¡Bienvenidos! Welcome!

Here at Casa de Luz Ministries, we are working to keep families together and lift up the name of Jesus in Primo Tapia, Mexico. Learn more about our mission below.

Our Mission:

We work to keep families together and provide resources and support to impoverished families and children at risk. We are involved in long-term gospel-centred community development because we believe that God has a plan for our neighbours—plans that are both good and full of hope and we love being a part of it!

Our work includes a Children's Center, focused on supporting single parents and impoverished families in Primo Tapia, a microloan program for business development, educational and scholarship initiatives, employment creation and a deep, local commitment to the spiritual growth, empowerment and advancement of our community.

What We Do:

Come right on in. It’s a bit loud in here sometimes, but it’s the best kind of loud: little kids are playing, neighbours are swapping stories, and men and women are working together. At the table, the big kids are working on their homework. Just outside, there’s a new home being built. In the kitchen, someone is singing. This, right here, is the Gospel in action.

There is a global poverty-driven orphan crisis. In fact, by some estimations, there are as many as 153 million boys and girls without families. Many of the orphans in Mexico are “economic orphans” – they may have parents, but their parents are unable to care for them.

Many of the fathers are absent which leaves mothers particularly vulnerable as they try to provide for their children without family support, resources, or help. Many women are forced to leave their small children alone at home or on the streets while they work or search for employment. Unfortunately, these kids are forced to scrounge for food and attempt to survive each day while the parent works very long and exhausting hours to provide the necessities of food and shelter. Tragically, this leaves the community’s children vulnerable to predators and traffickers. Many of these children suffer from physical and sexual abuse, exposure to illegal drug use, neglect, hunger, illness, household accidents, and loneliness. Many parents are faced with the heartbreaking decision to give up their children to full-time orphanage care as there are no other alternatives offered them.

We believe Jesus cares about these children, and these parents and so we’re here to stay. We’re here to be a “house of light” in the darkness. Yes, sometimes this kind of a Jesus-centered life is messy and loud, but we’re happy to be right in the middle of it, and we welcome you to join us.

Our work includes a Children’s Center, focused on single and impoverished families in Primo Tapia, a pilot microloan program for business development, education and scholarship initiatives, an ongoing partnership for home ownership and a deep, local commitment to the spiritual growth, empowerment, and development of our community. We love our neighbourhood. Jesus is at work here in our neighbours’ lives, and we’re honoured to be a part of his good plans.

Get Involved:

The aid that Casa de Luz Ministries provides is not just for children, but for entire families, as we work with them to move toward a healthy and sustainable lifestyle. We do not receive any financial support from the Mexican government. It is only through the generous partnership of individuals and churches that we are able to continue our work with impoverished families and children at risk.
